Why Hinoki?

“I had the privilege of working with Chye Hou during a particularly challenging and transitional phase in my career. His calm presence, deep patience, and thoughtful guidance made a significant difference in how I navigated that time.

I especially appreciate his approach of “getting into the coaching zone”, a focused, intentional space that allowed me to settle in and truly engage. That ritual, combined with his steady support, gave me the space I needed to reflect, reframe, and move forward.

I’m grateful for his guidance and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for thoughtful, impactful coaching.“

“What I found most valuable about working with Chye Hou was his ability to listen and to go deep, as much as provide clear, practical advice.

A Clarion Call

Since young, we have learned how to stay safe within the environments we grew up in.

  • Inevitably, we encountered occasions where we feel overwhelmed (e.g. when our need for safety, care, connection, warmth etc were not met)

  • To reduce the intensity of this sense of overwhelm, our body “braces”, we “lift” from our secure base

  • Constrictions form in the body, where the memories of these episodes are seemingly “frozen”

  • We have all experienced the tensions we hold in our jaw, the back of our neck, our lower back etc

  • Over time, we lose our innate connection with our secure base, our sense of ease, our physical body

  • This lifting helped to numb us from past wounding, but it also constricts the flow of life force within us

  • As we live more in the mind, access to our full-bodied intelligence withers. We live “exiled” from most of our physical vessel.

Society has focused (narrowly) on cognitive development in our education system

  • We were never taught in school how to stay present with strong emotions within ourselves. We attempt to think our way through, instead of being fully present with the direct experience and metabolizing these emotions.

  • The concept of emotional intelligence was seminal in bringing awareness to a whole plethora of other skillsets that represent fundamental life-skills

In organizations, a hyper-analytical, logic-driven approach reigns supreme.

  • Decisions are made cognitively, with somatic intelligence, relational intelligence, intuition, affective intelligence being exiled from the organizational lexicon.

  • This mechanistic way of thinking has brought us tremendous advancements over the years. However, the exile of the other parts of our personhood has also led to increased prevalence of mental health issues, executive burn out, a sense of running on a hamster’s wheel, a sense of being ready to jump into a Zoom meeting 24/7. This is not sustainable. This is inhumane.

  • In the current chaotic backdrop, we need the full breadth of our intelligence to be brought to bear. We require full access to our innate vitality. We need to be more deeply human.

The twin pillars or Healing and Awakening are core in our journey of coming home.

  • We are invited to cultivate restorative fields (with fellow kindred spirits), to fully include parts of ourselves that have been frozen, abandoned, betrayed.

  • We are invited to Awaken – not to escape into exalted realms, but to fully ground our higher impulses into the very fabric of our day-to-day lives. Inducting a sense of the Sacred into the Here and Now.

A return to our Secure Base, a reclaiming of our Authentic Power. A revitalisation of our one wild, precious life.
